This is probably my 20th or so painting of this view from Accademia Bridge. But I haven’t painted it like this before – its always different – size/shape of board, weather, time of day…
Painted at 4pm stormy skies and rain threatening. But a wonderful window of light shining on the Maria Della Salute. Very focused painting to catch the moment. Also decided to scrap the initial drawing as I couldn’t get the composition ‘right’ so went straight in the with the sky see below:
Enjoyed the freedom of this way and gives me confidence that I don’t need to ‘draw out’ first!
We took a chance painting at this time as the police are known to move artists on from the Accademia bridge int he day time. A quick paint helped.
