The second painting with the Oil Painters of America group. We were on an old plantation – (big farm) with about 8 out houses these two were part of them. A still grey day but I boosted the autumn colours to make them stand out more. The tonal value and colour of the sky and roof were very similar, so I chose the roof to be lighter and make it the emphasis.
Beginning stages, blocking in shapes
While painting on the plantation….
…I was waring my cap and suddenly saw a leg hang down. I reached up and it was a massive spider on my head!! It fell onto my palette I squealed and knocked it off with a paint brush, the perils of plein air!
