I was standing on Hussey Bridge in Wickford. A beautiful scene of coloured leaves and reflections. Nice to have the kayaks in too.
The subject felt too big for the size board I had – 8×14″ so it was a struggle to make all the areas fit together and work as a whole. When I’d finished I wasn’t sure whether I liked the final painting as it was 3 hour paint and I couldn’t see it freshly! But now back in the studio I’m happy, and could do a larger studio painting from this one….
The reflection kept disappearing with the wind and no sunshine so flat light – which is not as important when there’s lot of colour in the trees:
